Helping Israel save lives, one mission at a time.
WHO WE ARE
Today, and every day, CMDA saves lives
Since 1976, Canadian Magen David Adom for Israel (CMDA) has been the sole authorized fund-raising organization in Canada dedicated to supplying Ambulances, Medical Equipment, Supplies and Blood Testing Kits to support the life saving efforts of MDA in Israel. All of CMDA’s assistance to MDA has been made possible solely through the generous donations of people just like you.
With its Head of Operations in Montreal and supporting Chapters across the country, CMDA’s commitment to this cause runs deep with over 14,000 highly trained volunteers and a permanent staff of full-time professionals.

The Heartbeat of Israel Toronto Gala delivered an evening filled with illumination, music, and hope, highlighted by a special appearance from Debra Messing. At a time when Israel continues to face attacks on multiple fronts, Magen David Adom has remained steadfast, protecting lives day and night. The event honoured three extraordinary individuals whose dedication strengthens that mission. Drs. Sharla Lichtman and Joby Eisen were presented with the 2025 Kol Hakavod Award for their decade of service through MDA’s Doctor’s Committee, while philanthropist Harry Lebovic received the APOTROPOS Award in recognition of his longstanding support that has helped save countless lives.

CMDA’s Annual Gala in Winnipeg brought our community together for a meaningful evening filled with connection and purpose. Held on November 4th, the event highlighted CMDA’s unwavering commitment to supporting Magen David Adom today, tomorrow, and every day. Guests enjoyed a thoughtful and inspiring keynote from Uri Shacham, whose words reminded us of the vital work being done on the ground. Mentalist Nevo Abutbul captivated the room with a performance that had everyone leaning in, and violinist Steven Klevsky added a beautiful musical touch that elevated the atmosphere. It was an evening that celebrated generosity, unity, and the shared promise of helping save lives.

The Heartbeat of Israel Montreal Gala brought our community together for an evening that blended meaning, music, and deep appreciation for those who protect lives every day. Idan Amedi delivered a powerful live performance that set an emotional tone, connecting everyone in the room to the reality of this moment. We were also honoured to welcome paramedics from Israel, whose stories from the field offered a firsthand look at Magen David Adom’s lifesaving work and the courage it demands. Their presence reminded us why this mission is so vital. It was a night that celebrated resilience, highlighted the strength of community, and reaffirmed our shared commitment to supporting the people who keep Israel’s heartbeat strong.

CMDA's Magic Garden Gala drew more than 400 guests for an evening of heartfelt CMDA stories, generous support and CMDA standout performances. Violinist Steven Klevsky and pianist Dr. Thomas Yu delivered memorable music, while visiting MDA leaders shared powerful accounts of lifesaving work in Israel, including the story of a responder who saved children moments after losing his own daughter. Major donations came from Lenny Shapiro, Chervl Cohen, Darlene Switzer-Foster, the Sobel family and the Together For Israel Group. Mentalist Nevo Abutbul closed the night with crowd pleasing feats. The event highlighted CMDA’s essential role and the community’s strong commitment to its mission.
In addition to providing ongoing support for the people of Israel, the CMDA has contributed 20 percent of the funds required to build the National Headquarters of MDA’s Blood Bank located in the Tel-Ha’shomer complex just outside Tel Aviv, supplied 100 of the 800 Ambulances in service today and 25 of the 200 Emergency Medical Scooters with plans to purchase another eight this year.
