WHAT WE DO

Canadian Magen David Adom helps fund Israel’s national emergency medical service, from ambulances and blood services to disaster response and everyday pre-hospital care.

As part of the Red Cross, MDA’s trained professionals and volunteers are on the front lines, saving lives every day.

What we support

Thanks to your generosity, MDA continues to provide:

  • Nationwide ambulance coverage
  • Mobile intensive care units
  • Emergency blood services
  • Disaster relief and preparedness

MDA is responsible for providing Israel’s full range of pre-hospital emergency services, including:

  • Emergency first aid and patient transport
  • Nationwide blood and plasma services
  • Training programs in first aid, life support, and emergency care for both professionals and volunteers
  • Mobile Intensive Care Units staffed by advanced medical responders
  • Support and evacuation during road accidents, labor, and other emergencies
  • Transport of medical personnel during urgent situations

MDA also works in close cooperation with the International Red Cross to uphold global humanitarian standards.

1,850+ Ambulances Nationwide

MDA operates a modern fleet of over 1,850 lifesaving vehicles across Israel. To stay at the forefront of emergency response, 20% of these vehicles are replaced each year.

110 Mobile Intensive Care Units (MICUs)

Our MICUs are equipped for on-the-spot cardiac and trauma care. Staffed by physicians and emergency paramedics, they provide critical treatment on the way to the hospital, improving survival and reducing complications.

Emergency medial scooters

Our fleet includes 85+ 3-wheeled scooters designed to reach patients fasterin traffic or tight areas. CMDAI is committed to adding at least 12 more of these agile, life-saving responders.

Taking to the Skies: Emergency Helicopters

For the first time, MDA is deploying emergency response helicopters across Israel. Fully staffed and equipped, these helicopters extend our reach to save more lives, even faster.

Blood Services

Magen David Adom collects and maintains over 280,000 units of blood each year, donated entirely by volunteers. MDA supplies 97% of Israel’s national needs and 100% of the military’s. Visitors to Israel are encouraged to donate, a gift of blood is a gift of life.

Emergency First Aid Stations

MDA operates 127+ First Aid Stations across Israel, open 24/7 thanks to global support. These stations are critical to the country’s emergency response network.

First Aid Training

Over 50,000 Israelis are trained annually in basic First Aid by MDA. Students, professionals, and MDA ambulance staff receive comprehensive instruction, with paramedics undergoing the most advanced training to operate Mobile Intensive Care Units.

Volunteer Training

Volunteers committing to at least two years receive extensive training in CPR, trauma care, and pediatric emergencies, preparing them to support ambulance teams and MDA stations nationwide.
